Civil Engineering is a professional engineering discipline that deals with the construction and design of public and private sector works such as bridges, roads, dams and buildings.
Looking at the budget of 2012-13, investment in infrastructure sector to go up to INR 50 lakh crores and since 2001 earthquake (at Bhuj), there is rapid industrialization and infrastructure development in Kachchh district with projects like ‘Samakhyali – Gandhidham Road Project’, ‘Kandla – Mundra Road Project’ and also development of ‘Tuna Port’ project leading to huge requirement of manpower.
So my responsibility as an HOD of civil department increases eventually as our polytechnic college being a part of this region, we have a brilliant opportunity to shape the new brains in this field as the demand and requirement of this field is on peak at project execution/supervision level.
